Christian Surfers was first started as a national body in Australia in 1983, although there were individual surf ministries that had started before that, as early as 1977. Today Christian Surfer clubs are spread throughout South America, North America, Europe, Australia, Japan, and South Africa, bringing about an international body of surf ministry.

The first CS Japan group was founded in 1999 in Chigasaki city, Kanagawa. Since the it has evolved to include Japanese Christian surfers all over Japan, furthest north being Miyagi prefecture down to the southern parts such as Kouchi. The ways of evangelism varies from those who are personally involved in friendship evangelism to their surfer friends to those who are church planting as missionaries while reaching out to the surfers as well.

1. To present the good news of Jesus Christ in an understandable form to the surfing sub-culture.

2. To provide an alternative to the regular surfing scene, a scene which attracts, and often misleads many youth.

3. To act as a servant to the local church by: acting as a "halfway house" between the beach and the Church; offering specialist resources and personnel; helping Christians find a ministry "niche" through the unique opportunities for ministry that CS provides.

These aims are primarily achieved through numberous local Christian Surfer clubs which are backed by a variety of most mainline Churches. These clubs provide spiritual growth for participants through weekly Bible Studies and mentoring by club leaders.

We also have many monthly activities such as surfing camps, coaching, competitions, home parties, day trips, Bible studies, overseas surf trips, home stay programs, and much, much more!
